Sail Newport Announces 1st Annual Sail Newport Advanced Racing Clinic

Youth Sailing in Southeastern New England is about to get a little more exciting.

Come learn from the best.

Based on the extraordinary success of the California International Sailing Association "CISA" Clinics, Sail Newport in Newport RI will hold an Advanced Racing Clinic at the Sail Newport Sailing Center Friday - Sunday, June 14-16, 2002, just before the Youth Championships. This clinic will be available to advanced racing sailors ages 13 to 19. Sailors will be chosen to attend the Sail Newport Clinic based on resume.

The goal of the 3 day format is simple: to create a better sailor and competitor out of every participant attending the clinic.

The clinic will consist of daily chalk talks and on-the-water drills, focusing on boat handling, sail trim, tactics and strategy. Guest speakers in the evenings will address such topics as what is required for an Olympic campaign, Opportunities in the World of Keelboat Racing, and more.

The clinic will be held in:
· Lasers (12 sailors to be chosen),
· Laser Radials (12 sailors to be chosen) and
· C420s (12 teams to be chosen).

Those accepted may bring their own boats, or charter boats may be available. C420 sailors: skipper and crew should apply as a team.
