Support High School Sailing!
The Rogers High School Sailing Team has come out of nowhere to be one of the best programs in Rhode Island. The Vikings sailing with 1 Senior, 1 Junior and 2 Freshman won the Rhode Island State Championship and came in 3rd in the New England Women's Championship. Led by team captain Kelsey Druken, Rogers will have an ambitious schedule in 2002. Besides defending their State Title, a primary focus this year is the refurbishment of the of 8 Newport YC 420s that Rogers uses. The boats have been shipped up to dinghy repair experts, Guck Inc. in Bristol and thanks support of Newport Yacht Club nearly $5000, they are being worked on as we speak. To raise the balance of the needed funds for the refurbishment and other needs, Roger's assistant coach, Dan Neri has asked Newport's sailing elite to share their experiences and winning ways with the Narragansett Bay Community with proceeds going to the Team.
